I have a childhood friend from back in my homeschooling days who needs your prayers right now. Tricia has cystic fibrosis and while waiting for a double lung transplant discovered that she and her husband were expecting their first child. Given her CF, pregnancy carries enormous risks to her and the baby. She is currently in the hospital in very serious condition awaiting the recommendation of her doctors about delivering the baby very soon by C-section. Praise God, their little baby girl has reached 24 weeks, the age of viability. Nevertheless, the situation is dire. Tricia's husband Nathan keeps a very up-to-date blog. Here are a few of the things that they ask you to pray for:
for Tricia
- mucus that seems stuck to come up more easily
- strength, still real weak
- O2 needs to go down
- infection to go away
- insulin levels stay where they need to begin weight
- get more sleep
- that lungs aren't further damaged as time goes on
- that my body will be strong enough for a surgery when the baby is delivered
- no complications as a result from surgery.
for the baby
- meeting taking place tomorrow at 8am by many important doctors looking out on behalf of Tricia and the baby and coming up with a plan
- steroid shot given to baby tomorrow, that they work effectively on helping baby be prepared for delivery
- baby to gain and grow properly
- baby not to be harmed while I am receiving these antibiotics
- making decisions about timing of delivery
Despite the years since Tricia and I have been in touch, I was able to find out about her situation through the networking reach of Facebook. I believe in the strong power of prayer, and whoever of my readers I can reach through this blog, I implore you to join us in praying for God's grace and mercy on Tricia, Nathan, and their baby. Thank you.

Thank you!
Thanks for posting this Becky. Their story is amazing and I have been praying for them all day, as I'm sure you have been too.
I hope you are enjoying your time with family!
Becky,
It has been awhile since we spoke. Hope all is well with you and your family.
I was going to contact you to solicit your power in prayer and strong religious beliefs for someone I know when I read the story of your friend. I will say a prayer for them that all goes well and that both mother and child are healthy. Things like this are so difficult and make little to no sense. They are in my thoughts...
Now I ask for you to please pray for my friend Kristen. Who, on Dec 31, gave birth to her first child, Kaitlyn, at only 26 weeks. As you could imagine, she is having many complications and everyday is a milestone. Kristen is only 24 and I don;t think understands the scope of what is happening.
On a happier note, I gave birth to Blaise Joseph on Oct 11. He is wonderful and resembles Xavier very much. Life with two boys is quite interesting and very fun as I am sure you can agree...
take care and thanks a lot,
Shannon
