Back at the end of April I posted about our new window birdfeeder. Well, since then, it had several mishaps. Having been purchased from Poundland, it was perhaps of questionable quality, and twice the base detached from the seed canister falling unceremoniously to the concrete and ultimately smashing. This left a big pile of assorted birdseed on our patio. Rather than waste it, I decided to sweep it into a neat pile and situate it in a visible location for potential snackers.
Little did I know that putting seed on the ground would attract pigeons, those ubiquitous urban pests. As if they didn't have enough to gourge on along the main streets of the city, now they are foraging in my own back garden when I'm trying to feed sweet little finches and sparrows. Not only that, now that I've ordered a sturdy and proper window birdfeeder from eBay (UK), yesterday they somehow managed for the first time to hoist their rotund frames onto my windowsill and greedily scavenge the seed in the feeder itself, a feeder with tiny little perches for petite songbirds. Argh! Here are the pictures. Apparently, my squirrels are actually pigeons. Time to get a bee bee gun?

The "lookout" pigeon while the other one stuffed himself.

One on my back railing. I got this great shot through the backdoor window.

I vote for the b-b gun. David delights in using it on the squirrels here; come to think of it, so does your father :).
Love,
Mom
