I mentioned earlier my bird feeder dilemma. Well, I found a non-violent solution. By simply placing the bird feeder about a foot above the window ledge the pigeons were no longer able to balance on it and feed themselves. They tried for a day or two sitting on the sill, their pea-size brains trying to work this one out. In the end, however, they gave up. Foraging for rubbish in the city center is easier than performing acrobatics for a piddly few seeds on Orchard Road. Since then we've had a few stray sparrows visit us. They are still a bit skittish, and I've yet to manage a photo. From what I've read it takes them a while to feel confident enough to try out a new feeder and probably even longer still until they don't notice the camera. I'll keep you posted.
On another note, my sister Sarah arrives for a 3 week visit tomorrow. I'm going to meet her out at the airport, my first time taking the bus out there. We've been eagerly awaiting her trip and have all kinds of fun activities planned. Bear with me. I may be a little scarce while she's here, but you know I'll return with a vengeance.

just a quick comment regarding the weather. I was sitting in the car which was fruitlessly blowing cool air with a steady determination to beat the 100 degrees weather we've been experiencing over the last three days, and it occurred to mention to david that it was probably 60 degrees in Scotland and was I to check your site the little weather symbol would probably confirm my suspicions. sure enough it did. Lucky.
