The Beach in Pictures

We've been back from the beach for two weeks now and are gearing up for another week-long vacation -- this time in Atlanta with Trey's family. So I figured it was high time to get the beach pictures up.

Our house faced west where the Atlantic Ocean merges into the Delaware river, so we enjoyed beautiful sunsets every night.

This was our first night at the beach. The kids just couldn't wait to dip their toes in. Who needs bathing suits?

A couple of guys nearby were fishing and caught this brown shark. No worries about safety. These are the kind in the petting pool at aquariums.

On Monday it was so windy that the sand stung your legs and you couldn't see from the sand clouds on the beach, so we skipped it during the day and went to the Aviation Museum again (remember we got a membership). See me with the kids next to this F-something bad boy?

Genevie was a little freaked out by the crash dummy mannequin -- at first. That wore off and then was rather affectionate.

Well, that's settled. We simply have to get a flight simulator at our house.

Understanding airflow.

This was the view from our porch. The house was an "upside down" house, meaning the living space (kitchen, living room, dining room) was upstairs along with two of the bedrooms, and so while we ate and played and watched TV, we had lovely views of the ocean.

The upstairs terrace.

I taught the boys how to play UNO and they loved it.

Davis, believe it or not, was the wiz and won every game he played!

Our beach time was divine. The temperatures were warm without being oppressive and the water was a perfect 73 degrees for swimming. I like my ocean temp on the cooler side so it's truly refreshing. Not a bath water temp fan.

This little girl perfected her "downward facing dog" on the beach. Nothing like yoga in nature.

We had fun burying the kids in the sand.

And of course, we "discovered" another Cape-o-saurus.

We got lots of delicious seafood while on vacation, like scallops and clams and shrimp, and let's not forget fruity adult beverages.

The last night we played mini-golf.

On our last day we went out for breakfast.

Nothing better than starting a day off with bacon.

It was a wonderful vacation!
